Maisey's first word was.......wait for it....... "MAMA"
(bet you didn't see that coming!!)
She still loves for me to tell her the story of when she said my name and how I almost had a heart attack. Of course I cried and blubbered all over the place because this tiny voice called me out like the winning number at a bingo game!
I was smitten by this child the day I found out I was expecting and couldn't keep it quiet! Our love grew by leaps and bounds when I heard her beating heart, felt her first kick, the everyday bounces from the hiccups, and when I saw her face, I melted like warm caramel. Those are sweet memories that will be embedded in my heart & brain forever.
On the day she said my name though it was something I shall never forget. I was stamped by that 6 month old like an enveloped at a the local post office to be shipped to a far way baby land in the clouds. My identity was locked to her heart and hers to mine now until forever. I will always be Maisey's mama.
The celebration of Mother's Day REALLY means a whole lot more now that I'm a mom. I have always loved and appreciated my own mama but now that I'm walking in my very own motherhood, everyday I am captivated by God's amazing blessings & love through the sweetness of my girl, Maisey. I have never really grasped the love of God like I do now that I'm a parent. It's very special to say the least.
The other day while Maisey was sick in the hospital, the Lord reminded me and led me to this verse:
Psalm 127:3
3-5 Don't you see that children are God's best gift?
the fruit of the womb his generous legacy?
Like a warrior's fistful of arrows
are the children of a vigorous youth.
Oh, how blessed are you parents,
with your quivers full of children!
Your enemies don't stand a chance against you;
you'll sweep them right off your doorstep.
Brad and I have been blessed with the gift of a child. We are grateful to have our daughter to love, raise up and fear the Lord. We can't wait to see her take her place in His kingdom - now and to come!
