"Little Bird" releases TOMORROW 6/29 and takes flight from the Birds in Branches song series. I hope you've had a chance to take a listen on SoundCloud and will download from iTunes, Amazon and cdbaby. We truly want to help iCare4.org build that restoration home for women and children who have been wronged and need a place to heal. The way you can contribute is to download the song and share it with your friends and family through all types of social media. Thank you playing a part in helping with the restoration home for iCare4.org and for your support, prayers and generosity!
Little Bird is dear to my heart because God gave me this song in like 15 minutes and it brought a real, deep sense of encouragement to my life. I just had my second surgery and was recuperating but unable to play guitar; however, I could play my ukulele. I had 3 open wounds that had to be packed everyday in a very sensitive place and my emotions were shot. The thought of not being physically healed scared me. I thought I would never see the light of day....BUT...GOD....began to reassure my mind to rest and TRUST in Him. This healing took several months. It wasn't an overnight fix. However, I learned a lot of amazing life lessons during this season of healing, rest and trust. One day I may blog about that! "The sun will rise and the moon will kiss us all goodnight" is my way of declaring that I could count on God to remain faithful through the up's and down's of life's journey - no matter what!
I'm grateful for my sweet mother who helped me with my wound care - there is no love like a mother's love. I'm grateful for a loving, praying husband who lifted me up and took care of Maisey because I was unable to. I'm grateful for my family and friends who stopped by to pray for me and bring me flowers and candy because you know how much I love candy! I'm grateful for my Pastor & church who let me take the time I needed to heal and for all those who stepped up and filled in for me. God's love poured over me through His people in such sweet way. I will never forget this! We are loved by a God who takes very good care of the smallest of details relating to His creation. Little Bird is a song of hope, trust, God's faithfulness and sometimes you just need to sing a tune of encouragement to yourself. I hope this is that for you! Matthew 6:26 says, "Look at the birds of the air: they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" He loves us and will take care of His children. We can count on that!
I'd like to take a few moments to thank the following people who made this song extra special in so many wonderful ways:
Patty Williams - having you sing on this song thrills me! We both have needed God's grace to walk through some very broken places and you, my friend, are an inspiration to me. I've watched you over the last few years grow in grace and hope in Lord like never before. The way you have let God carry you through so many tragic storms is a testament to His love over you and His faithfulness. I appreciate your friendship so much because of your sincerity and honesty of heart. This makes our sister-ship a treasure I hold dear. I thank the Lord for letting us do this life together.
I'd like to thank the 181 Youth Band for having the heart to serve and have FUN! Making music should always be FUN FIRST--that's my motto!!! I love each of you so much and have watched you grow in your God-gifts over the last few years and I know that the Lord has MORE in STORE for each of you! It's so special having your sweet voices on this song. You did great and I am honored to have you part!
The band - David Disharoon: Guitars & vocals, George Sandler: drums & percussion and Producer John Johnson: bass, chimes, everything else....thank you guys so much for always taking the time to give it your all. I really appreciate your friendship and value all that you bring to the creative table. It's a joy to work with you and it just keeps getting more fun!!! Thank you for letting me be me and helping shape the songs into something I'm very proud of. You guys are great!!
Jimmie Mayo & Cindi Hall - I'm so glad you're part of the series too but I didn't want to give it all away as of yet : ) Stay tuned for July and August for the next 2 songs!
Here's a little video to just give a recap of what's been going on at Johnson Brothers Studio on the making of Birds in Branches.
