Happy Friday everyone!!
Thanks for taking the time to read this little bloggie : )
Here is song story #8...."It's Your Turn (LeeAnn's Song)"...
As you can see, I wrote this song for my friend, LeeAnn. She and I have a long seasoned-history of friendship...from meeting at church camp to Emmanuel College, to Lee University, to singing in a band, to phone calls, birthday cards, lunch dates, to married life, to having our own families. We go WAY back and I love her dearly. I wrote this song and sang it to her at her shower on the night before she married Shane (her sweet husband that I totally take credit for in introducing the two of them because I just knew that went together like chips and dip!) HA!! They are a sweet couple who love the Lord and have two beautiful children. I will never forget the night I sang it to her. She cried, I cried, we all cried! She had waited for the love of her life and her day to become His was a dream come true.
I have had the honor of singing this in several weddings over the years and with each couple it seems to get sweeter and sweeter. When we recorded this, I knew I wanted to have John Johnson sing it with me. His voice is so great ya'll....no joke! I think it turned out quite lovely and a little folk-country...which fits.
Make sure you're at the CD release because we're planning something really special for this song....
It's Your Turn (LeeAnn's Song)
W&M by Carrie Bowen
It's your turn to be loved
It's your turn to dance in the sunlight
You've waited so long now your day has finally come
It's your turn
It's your turn to laugh
It's your turn to cry
And learn all the reasons why God placed you together for the rest of your lives
It's your turn
So make each moment last while they're hear
Cherish each second they pass so fast
It's your turn to be loved
So don't be afraid take his hand
Dance in the moonlight and remember when
Love tapped you on the shoulder and asked for your hand
It's your turn
